Glory of Habsburg and the „golden“ Art Nouveau

Vienna is today still characterised by the ruling Habsburg dynasty. Magnificent buildings are reminiscent of the K. u. K. (Imperial and Royal) Monarchy. Vienna is home to culture as well as the culinary form of culture. The Austrian capital is known as the World capital of music. Mozart, Haydn, Beethoven and Johann Strauss (father and son) lived and worked in Vienna. The composers’ works are virtuously performed in the Wiener Musikverein. The Habsburg treasures and priceless works of art are exhibited in the many museums of the city e.g. in the Hofburg and the MuseumsQuartier. The world famous painting “The Kiss” by Gustav Klimt can be admired in the Belvedere, a baroque palace complex. Explore Vienna’s attractions in a cosy two-horse carriage. The visitor may wish to take a ride on the fiaker to the St. Stephen’s Cathedral, the true landmark of Vienna and Austria. Continue to the Hofburg or Imperial Palace with its splendid rooms and on then to the Old Town (Innere Altstadt) which together with the Schönbrunn Palace is part of UNESCO’s cultural heritage. A ride on the Ferris wheel (Riesenrad) in Prater offers a glorious view over Vienna. Shopoholics will love the Mariahilfer Strasse and the noble shopping streets Kärntner Strasse, Graben and Kohlmarkt.

A Day in Schönbrunn

Spend a wonderful day with your partner in one of the most beautiful baroque palaces in Europe. Kick off with a grand tour through the preciously furnished palace salons. Admire the enchanting park with its Palm House, Gloriette and Zoo. Explore the maze garden which was once enjoyed by Empress Sisi and Emperor Franz-Joseph in their former summer residence.

Coffeehouses and Beisl

The Viennese Coffeehouse is not simply a café but rather an institution in Vienna which dates back centuries. Even back at the end of the 19th century, leading Viennese writers lingered with their coffee and obligatory glass of water studying the newspapers or philosophising about everything under the sun. This coffeehouse culture is still very much alive today in the Coffeehouses of the Old Town e.g. Diglas, Gerstner K & K Hofzuckerbäckerei or Landmann am Burgtheater. Patisserie delicacies can be enjoyed in notable Coffeehouses such the Demel and of course the Sacher, located in the luxury hotel of the same name. When the locals long for cosiness and home-style cooking then they head to the Beisl. More wholesome Viennese cuisine can be savoured in the traditional eateries Stemann and Immervoll.
