Antwerp in Belgium is situated on the River Schelde in the Flanders region approx. 90 km north of Brussels. The Antwerp harbour is one of the top ten in the world. A stroll along the Scheldekais in the evening twilight is the best time of the day to enjoy the lights of the city and the ships as they form a fairy-tale spectacle. The extremely rich cultural heritage of the city is associated with the names of famous artists such as Rubens, Van Kyck, Jordaens and Breughel, all of whom can be admired in the numerous museums of the wealthy seaport. To this day Antwerp epitomizes the art of living and expresses itself through its stimulating lifestyle and its vibrant culture and art scene. In the townscape historical Patrician houses complement breathtaking modern architecture. Antwerp is most famous however for “a girl’s best friend”, Diamonds! The city has four bourses trading diamonds. Fashion victims are in their element in Antwerp. The maritime metropolis has developed a rich and talented fashion culture since the 1980s. Its focal point is the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in the Zuid district.

Hotels

The port of Antwerp is the door to the world. Even today imported spices, foods and drinks from all over the world arrive at Antwerp. Accordingly, the culinary offerings of the city are colourful and diverse. However, many restaurants tend to orientate itself on the classical French cuisine. Countless restaurants, bistros, brasseries, Grand Cafés, cosy pubs and bars offer food and drink in the historic city centre, the Altstadt, in the Zuid district and the theatre district Quartier Latin. It’s best to just go with the flow until a romantic spot in one of the charming alleys catches the eye.
