What we consider normal today was a revolution around 30 years ago: Italian cuisine beyond Spaghetti Bolognese and Pizza Margherita! Alfredo Carturan, a native of Padua and a local Italian patriot of Cologne, dared to do something new in 1973. He founded "Ristorante Alfredo" next to the Cologne opera house, where the restaurant is still located today. It didn’t take long for word to spread and for people from all around the world to start coming to Cologne to partake of Alfredo's culinary creations in the restaurant’s elegant, light-flooded atmosphere.
